First OB Visit

I had my first OB visit this afternoon. I know it may seem a little soon since I'm supposedly only five weeks along, but I have been freaking out about all sorts of things since finding out I am pregnant, so I really needed to get in right away.

One of the main things I have been worrying about is how far along I really am. Because if you go by my LMP*, I'm exactly five weeks today. But, I also should not have been ovulating early enough for me to have gotten pregnant in the first place, so who knows when I ovulated? When I talked to my OB about it today, she said that since I had just come off of the birth control pill, I could have ovulated just about anytime.

When she did my pelvic exam, she also checked the size of my uterus to see if I was about where I should be based on my current due date, and she said that I felt more like six to seven weeks instead of five weeks. Oy! She said it was possible that I ovulated earlier than I thought or that I had a fibroid. Either, or both, are possible. I was "bigger" than I should have been with Sarah, and it turned out that I was about six days further along AND I had a fibroid. I'm just glad she didn't mention the "T" word!

So, now I've got more stuff to worry about. If I ovulated earlier than I thought, my chances of having a boy increase. I am really hoping that this baby is not a boy. Sure, I would love a boy just as much as I love my girls, but logistically, a boy would be much more difficult for us. We are currently planning to have this child share Katie's room with her, and pretty much everything in there is pink. The crib bedding I have is pink. Most of Katie's toys are pink. And of course, hand-me-downs from Katie are a LOT less expensive than brand new boy clothes.

So, please say a little prayer for me and my baby, if you're the praying type. Pray that no matter what, this little one is healthy. Pray that I can get through this pregnancy without any complications like I've had in the past. And please pray that this baby is a girl. Please.

Praying for you and your baby! I pray that you don't have any complications with this pregnancy and that your feeling good most of the time.
Oh and I want you to have a girl too, just because they are so much fun (but you have 3, I think you know that) and they're pretty cute. Plus I don't think Katie would like sharing her room with a boy when she got older! They tend to smell..

I completely understand why a girl would fit better than a boy. My last was a boy and the toy thing is so much easier...but if it was a healthy girl, I would have been just as happy.
Sayin' a prayer for you..healthy, happy, uncomplicated pregnancy !

I hope it all works out to be easiest for you but I'm partial to boys. We have 5 :) And little boys don't smell :) Maybe when their teens, ok. In all seriousness, I understand why it would be easier but don't focus too hard on that because you will for sure have that boy!!

I don't know, Susan. I was in a similar situation when I got pregnant with Emily. I prayed everyday for another girl because we already had girl clothes and toys and the baby would have to share a room with Sarah. And I was lucky enough to get another girl.

Praying for you all.

And in my experience, little boys love the color PINK above all others, so I wouldn't worry too much about the room color. Just a few nights ago, one of my boys asked if we could paint their blue room pink!

I don't think it's the color pink that would be so much of the problem. I'm thinking all of the ballerina and princess stuff would be a bit too girlie for a boy.

Although, Katie does have one little boy friend who just loves to play in her bedroom and sit at her little princess table and play tea party. But, if I had a boy, I doubt I would get lucky enough to have one that loves that stuff so much.

Oh, and I should add that I need another girl for the sake of my nephew. He quite enjoys his status as the only male grandchild and wants to keep it that way.

I'll pray for you but God already knows what it is and he hold the cards!

I think you all need a little blue in the house :)

I hope your baby is healthy no matter which gender it turns out to be :) If it is a boy you will figure it out!

I remember when I had my big ultrasound with Gage, and the tech said it was a boy... I CRIED, and not happy tears. You should have seen me LOL! Obviously I got over that, but it is funny to look back at now.

When do you get to have an ultrasound?
