Heaven

When we were planning our trip to Orlando, I told Phil that I wanted to visit the Ikea store at some point. Phil, not knowing anything about Ikea, wasn't at all interested in going. But, tonight, we had nothing to do, and my mother wanted us to go out without the girls, so we decided to go out to dinner and then Ikea.

As soon as we got up to the showroom, Phil was an Ikea convert. He was amazed and loving almost everything we saw. Of course, since there isn't any extra room to bring anything home with us, we didn't buy anything. But, we did get a lot of ideas about things we want to do at home.

We will definitely be making a return trip to Ikea at some point in the future. Of course, if we can wait a year, then we won't have to drive so far since they are currently building another Ikea in Tampa, which is much closer to home. The Tampa Ikea is scheduled to open up next summer.

When I was in my early 20's, I had bought quite a few things from IKEA. I used to go to the one in central Jersey and also have gone to the one in Long Island. I am not sure what their products are like now...I am talking 20 years ago. I was happy and loved picking out things. Showrooms are amazing...But I had found that (like I said years ago) their products were cheaply designed. I'm not a big fan of pressed wood and unless its changed, they only used pressed wood. I am not easy on furniture meaning the weight of objects I put on furniture, how items are placed, etc. At the time, I had the whole black look and chipping was horrible. So I am not knocking IKEA because I know some of it was my doing also....

I can't believe that it took this long for IKEA to come to Florida...I spent many Sunday afternoons with my friend Glenn just roaming around and picturing how I would like my home to look....

Welcome aboard, Phil...it is a great place for ideas. Like Debbie said - there are lots of particle board things but there are TONS of deals on things that are good quality (stainless, organizational things, bedding, picture frames, chairs)! Love that place - my fav is the one in Paramus, NJ...I have been to several but that one doesn't bring in the bus loads of tourists like the ones closer to NYC or DC and is cleaner!

We LOVE Ikea. In fact, we decided tonight we need to head over there. I have an awesome craft project I want to do for Christmas gifts and it will require some Ikea stuff. Now I'm itching to go and unsure when I can!
